Changing Up This Blog and Making Goals For The New Year

With the new year I’m going to be making some changes to this blog. I enjoyed posting detailed weekly preschool at home updates but now that I have 2 little ones, I just don’t have the time any more. I have a super limited amount of time that I can spend on this hobby (this blog) and I want to make my time writing count.

This year my “resolutions” are;

I want to know God more intimately. I want my heart to be pure before Him and please Him in my thoughts and actions. I want to dig deeper into scripture and press harder in prayer.

I want to redeem the time. Life is so short and I don’t want to waste what has been given me. This year I aim to work diligently to train my children in the ways of the Lord and to teach them His Word. I want to radiate God’s love to all those I come in contact with. I want my relationship with my husband to be richer and to keep sanctifying me and teaching me about God’s love.

What are your goals/ resolutions for this coming year? Do you have a plan for digging deeper in scripture? How do you hope to redeem the time in 2016? I’d love for you to share in the comments!

A One Sentence Morning Prayer

Psalm 143:8 King James Version (KJV)

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

What a beautiful prayer to start out each day with! I’m going to put this on my mirror where I can see it at the start of each day.

For a mom of little ones with with very little quiet time in her day, this one sentence prayer has so much truth in it.

It’s a reminder that God loves me. It is an acknowledgment of God’s greatness and sovereignty and a proclamation of trust in Him. It’s also a plea for wisdom which I need in abundance to raise these little souls God has entrusted me with. At the end it reminds me to turn my heart towards the things of God and to not let the things of  this world turn my focus from what my soul needs most- Jesus.

2015 Year In Review

2015 has been a busy year and we have been very blessed! I want to take a moment and list some of the memories made and family changes that occurred this past year.

In January we visited T’s sister and her family who live a few hours from us. The reason she’s standing in front of so much ammo is because we went to Cabella’s!

IMG_2247 My husband’s brother T proposed to A and I put on a bridal shower for her.

In February they got married…

In March I put on a barnyard themed party for E’s 2nd birthday and we took a trip to Colorado.

In April, IMG_1172 we got our first glimpse of  the new little life inside me.

In May, we said happy 4th heavenly birthday to our firstborn son Titus who passed away at birth. We sent gifts to our sponsor children in his memory.

We also found out we were expecting another boy! IMG_1970

In June we celebrated 5 years of marriage, IMG_1264

Father’s day I announced that I was naming our baby boy after my husband.

In July I traveled with E to Connecticut for my brothers wedding then flew back just in time for T’s sister’s wedding

July also brought us the scary news that our baby had a heart defect and may need surgery after birth. IMG_1526

In August, we had a nephew born and Ella started music classes at ACME and I started going through the Teaching Mama curriculum with her. IMG_3177

In September we praised God that the baby’s heart defect had corrected itself! We took a trip with all our nieces and nephews and their parents who live in the state to Blanchard Springs Caverns.IMG_0375

September and the beginning of October was filled with doctor appointments and non stress tests as my high risk pregnancy got more complicated towards the end.IMG_3694

October brought us a healthy baby boy born early on October 16. He had a rough start and we spent 5 nights with him in the NICU before getting to go home.

November, my dad flew down to visit us from out of state and we ended up back in the hospital when baby T spiked a fever.

Thanksgiving we were all healthy and got to celebrate the holiday at my in-laws in their barn.IMG_4151

December, T started a special project at work and we are enjoying a break from night shift!

Phew! What a year! It was filled with blessings along with some challenges that caused us to focus our eyes on the Lord and trust Him.

I’m excited to start 2016!

The best activity this week was making homemade ice cream with two ziplock bags. I was surprised by how good it came out!

I don’t have much time to write today but I wanted to do a quick preschool update.

We’ve also done some fun seasonal stuff this week. We made and decorated ginger bread people and E got to experience going to a parade for the first time. She sat on dad’s shoulders and went back and forth from being really excited to pulling out dad’s hair when she got scared of the noise! At the end of the parade a Santa was on top of a fire truck and the kids yelled “Santa!” except for E who yelled, “It’s Grandpa!”

Have a happy weekend!
